Description
An old, rusted and decrepit moss-covered sign still stands on Harkins Road in Salinas, California, prohibiting big rigs from entering the small town of Spreckels. Spreckels was originally a company town built in 1899 to house workers of the Spreckels Sugar Company. Famous author John Steinbeck once worked for the Spreckels Company. This sign appears to be decades old, likely from the time of Steinbeck.
